Well that's another new one!
I posted something here several months ago about lights interfering with the signal too. will it never cease?
There is probably a capacitor (suppressor) placed across the main feed in the TV that acts as a suppressor. if that has degraded or is/has failed, then it would have that effect. |

| Man this never ceases to amaze me - I have heard of all of the following being a factor: - Washing machines - TVs - Arc welders - Christmas lights - Garage door openers - Magnetic security doors (eg locks) - Halogen and UV lights etc etc
But in the real world I haven't actually seen any examples of people (and in particular helpdesks) actually finding this out for themselves..
Is there anyone that works on a helpdesk that knows of an easy way to spot things like this without asking the customer a million questions eg Do you have a washing machine, etc?
I have seen the whitelines on a 5530 analyzer (not sure if other helpdesks use this) and I have been trying to tie this to various frequencies (eg working out what frequency a halogen is at etc) but not having a heap of luck...
I also know a number of modems display the frequencies and their output - I think this might be used?
But Kudos to tobyw31 - nice detective work!
