Time to start grilling

Well the weather is getting consistently warm now and I will be scrubbing out the gas Weber grill this weekend. Also clean the patio and chairs and prepare for the grill season that may be here already. Probably start with some steaks but lobster for some reason is less expensive than normal so that may be in the future too.

Anyone else getting fired up for grilling season? What am I talking about I am sure there are quite a few that never stopped.

White grass, and that is a weird lawnmower. Actually during my college time in CO I remember riding around in a friends convertible wearing parkas and hats and gloves because he had to have the top down 365. Dang funny what a decade plus of near topical weather will do to you.

I grill all year round. Even when I was in Kansas I'd stand out there in the snow at 20 degrees and grill steaks

Yeah you would think standing next to the grill would be warm enough, but...

I like the weather warm and the beer cold.

I take great pride in barbequeing in my shorts on New Years eve, and while I don't shovel the front steps, I do shovel the deck where the grill is.

This is in writing, on the internet, for all the world to see. My husband says HE will scrub out the grill.

and chicken breast for son (he will not eat seafood and does not like steak ). The first grill of the year was a great success. My new favorite grilled item: lobster tail. Well it probably was before but this is the first time I was doing the grilling. Won't be something for an ordinary weekend, but for certain birthday's I have a feeling it will be requested or suggested.

Well since Saturday we have grilled 3 times. First surf 'n turf, then lamb chops and tonight chicken. I am beginning to worry about what is next as we slide down the meat scale... Tomorrow is shopping day I am sure grilling friendly meat will be had.

Just out of curiosity, have the flies and mosquitoes started buzzing around in the area yet? It's about that time of year IIRC. Still got a few more months before they become annoying around here.

Haven't seen any mosquitos yet but an occassional fly or gnat. It won't be long though.

No mosquito bites yet, although raining nicely now. No flies either but we have quite a few flowers that have bloomed and the bees are becoming active. There have been a few evenings of great grilling weather. Even though we have some out of town company too wet to grill until the weekend probably. You can probably expect a "Covered patio" thread from me in the future.

It's time for me to tear apart my Weber and scrape and wire brush the insides. I do this usually once a year, twice if I've grilled some especially goopy or drippy yummies.

Also need to get my spare LP tank swapped out. I've got two total, and always try to keep a full one around. I've run out of gas in the middle of cooking before, and that sucks!

I'm going to start grilling some more seafood this year too, so I vote for the lobster!
