(So we know how close the to cap we might be getting.) How about getting that up and online. (I am just a bit tired of having to total up each PC. This SHOULD be a simple thing to do Comcast)

 | sound like you have a route. your route should have one that totals up all the data from all computers. you already have a bandwidth meter right in front of you face and dont even know it. |

This ignores Comcast responsibility, they are metering, they promised a meter, is it unreasonable to expect them to deliver the online meter?
BTW- I guess my usage at 40-50GB/mo, so I don't have a CAP issue, I'm just expecting Comcast to deliver on their promises. |

 | reply to richdelb comcast do not really enforce cap it just their so you wouldn't be in their radar of excessive use you have to be in their top 10 list of heavy user thats way more then 250gb say 1-2TB a month! |

richdelbGo Hawks GoPremium join:2003-01-22 Algonquin, IL | reply to comcastcares All due respect, your "ETA" should have been the day Comcast started with the cap.
I have been watching and have not been over 35GB for a month for all my machines, total. This is NOT the point. Comcast put a cap there, they should provide their customers a meter to see where they are. The electric co does so. The Gas co does so. The town I live in has a water meter at the house.
Why is there no "meter" with cable?
I like Comcast and am happy with my connection, but the story is about Comcast's "image" and the lack of a meter is a CONSTANT irritant for me with Comcast. |

You should build a pfSense box...»www.pfsense.org/ do it yourself, why do you need comcast? Click on the link or copy and paste it and read up on it. Here is a link with screen shots »www.pfsense.org/screenshots/ |

joetaxpayerI'M Here Till Thursday join:2001-09-07 Sudbury, MA | No offense, but this is PC based? i.e. not a router firmware? What good it this? How does it help those with TiVos, Xboxes, iPods, etc? It seems the meter is getting close, anyway. |

 | reply to richdelb no you need to back and research a little bit. Comcast DID NOT put the cap in place. It was put in my people sueing Comcast. The court said sue/ask and you shall receive. Well you did. A cap. Now start thanking the people that wanted it. |

| reply to joetaxpayer pfSense is a *nix based router/firewall similar to monowall or smoothwall. It's not an embedded firmware like a typical router that you would buy from Linksys or DLink, but it's not an application either that you run under windows. Often people install it on an old PC although I suppose you probably could run it under a virtual machine. There are also several hardware appliances that are essesntially embedded computers that are capable of running pfSense (or other *nix based firewalls). |

Oh wait - they were suing because a cap already existed! A cap that Comcast wouldn't make public. "Use you connection less or we'll disconnect your service - So how much am I allowed to use it? - Not gonna tell you, just use it less". Perhaps you need to go back and research a little bit - the cap existed for a long long time, it's the outrage of the customers that made Comcast finally tell the truth about it. |

·WOW Internet and..
1 edit | customers sued? Try only one. They post on here. Also the cap was between 300-500gigs per customer. NOT the 250gigs it is today. People asked for a hard cap and they got one, 250 freakin gigs. If you don't like it then sue the person that sued them.
And by the way other providers have the same soft cap. Maybe you should go read the AUP/TOS of RoadRunner. It's available at: help.rr.com. it does NOT give any hard limits either. that SAME AUPP and TOS is set in stone for EVERY customer who uses RR for their ISP regardless if they're a TWC or Insight customer. |

It was just NOT disclosed and they got in trouble with the Florida Attorney General for having a non-disclosed cap.
Nobody "wanted" the cap except Comcast. We just wanted to know what it was so we could comply with the policy. -- Obama '08. Will help resolve the terrible broadband issues we have that put us so far behind other countries. |

 | its called read your contract and terms of use. if you don't like it don't sign up with the provider. instead of crying about it.
Don't have another provider start your own and compete. |
