So brief anecdote: Couple of years ago, I used Zen as my ISP - was perfectly happy then they made some 'internal network changes' upshot was that it was quicker to go around there network that it was to go through it (same Gateway IP on their edge router) & that just ain't right.

So what I'm saying here is that the ISP's networks are not static, are subject to change and as paying customers, we have the right to choose to stay or go as per their (ISP's)technical and commercial acumen.

That said, the problem seems to centre upon peer1.net - note that in both my results, the responce time shot up even through different IP addresses which I presume (don't know) are different edge routers on their network. I don't know much about tacticalgamer.com but they seem to site behind (or are even hosted by) Peer1.net. It may be worth having a grumble to tacticalgamer.com as presumeably all UK gamers to this site are equilly affected.
