I don't need a router :S
Doesn't matter what you perceive that you need as you already have most of it in reality (it matters what you have). The P660R is a Router and a ADSL2+ Modem in one device. You have turned off the Router function in the ZyXEL by placing it into Bridge Mode, but that does not remove the fact that it is still a "2 in 1" device with a Router and ADSL2+ Modem.

The ZyXEL already meets 3 of your 5 wishes (not needs).

1) ADSL2+
subjective) better than the one I have right now
2) can be set to bridge mode
subjective) 1000 Mbps WAN output
3) cheap (will be using it for a year only)

The P660R is already ADSL2+, it is already set to Bridge Mode, and it is a cheap as it possibly gets as you already have it.

Enjoy!

What DSL plan are you on - speed down and up?

You can't use a Gigabit link from the modem.

I currently own a Zyxel 660R which is set to bridge mode, working together with a DIR-655 A2.

Very soon (1 yr) I'll be able to get a cheap fiber connection from my isp, but in the meantime I think I could use a better modem.

Most of you probably know this site: »www.smallnetbuilder.com/

The router chart is awesome and easy to use, and it helped me when I needed a new router (the 655), but they don't seem to provide a similar chart for Modems.

Therefore, I'd appreciate your suggestions for a modem that fills out the following requirements:
- ADSL2+
- better than the one I have right now
- can be set to bridge mode
- 1000 Mbps WAN output
- cheap (will be using it for a year only)

give me model numbers and I'll look into them

thanks in advance
