Well I just did it today, couldnt get it to work until I plugged into the WAN port..
I changed the main router (it is also a dsl modem) to 192.168.2.1
And I changed the 8 port router to 192.168.1.1
(reason for the seperate networks is because I share this connection with a neighbor and we dont want to share/view computers)
It seems when I plugged into one of the 8 ports the router would not be able either provide me an ip address to my NIC card or it would give me a dns error |

1 edit | reply to datguy9 Yes. You disable DHCP in the Router and you plug your DSL Modem into one of the Routers LAN ports. You can't use the WAN port as that is not a switch port. Then the other 7 ports are for your PCs and IP devices.

| Im trying to use an Actiontech 8 port fios router with my dsl service.
So far, I have hooked it up to my Westell 327 DSL Modem/router..It seems to work for a little while then it stops..I believe there is a conflict somewhere.. Ive only been able to make it work while plugged into 1 of the 8 ethernet jacks, but not when its plugged into the white LAN port
Does anyone know how to reconfigure this 8 port router so that it doesnt act like a fios modem but just as a switch/router??? |
