said by WhiteAnNerdy :on a good day i was only getting about half that with my old 16/2 WOW connection. WOW doesn't offer a 16/2 tier, it's 15/2.
PS don't be envious, you can order comcrap power burst to. I'm not envious. I get my 15Mbps all day long. WOW could do power boost if they wanted, they don't see the point as it isn't a real useful function. It doesn't make long downloads any faster, only small ones under 20MB in size. I'm happy with what I have with WOW. |

That's called power boost ding dong. It fools people like you and the speed tests all the time. Setup a real long download and watch the speeds halfway through the transfer. You won't be seeing 22Mbps then. You might see 15Mbps at best knowing them. 15Mbps...yes that sounds about right. on a good day i was only getting about half that with my old 16/2 WOW connection. so, according to you the comcrap is still faster. i'm not sure what's funnier, that you think my superior internet connection somehow makes me a ding dong or that you actually used the word ding dong. PS don't be envious, you can order comcrap power burst to. |

| reply to annoyed been slow again this past week. upload was good but download has been around 8100 but i'm paying for the 16/2 connection. didn't care because it's still fast but last night it got even worse. now i'm getting between 187 & 1890. THIS SUCKS!!! yes i cleared all cookies, deleted all histories, plugged PC directly into modem and disabled norton. i also ran the test on 2 different PCs & 1 playstation 3. all returned similar results. when i explained all this over the phone to WOW i was told that they needed to send a tech 2 my house because the firewalls were probably configured wrong on my PC. what a bunch of idiots !!! i'm going to find a new ISP. don't even care if it's a slower connection that cost more money. because of bundled pricing they well also lose a hd cable tv customer. |

| reply to annoyed Well, things have been alright for a few weeks now, but we are back to slow again the past few days in the evenings. I'm getting about 1.8mbit or slower on my download, but about the full 1.0 on my upload.
Time to start calling again to complain I guess. |

1 edit | reply to annoyed It's now 10pm and I'm down to about 1.0-2.0 on my download speeds. Just got off the phone with the tech...they are going to roll a truck out to my house on Saturday.
Interestingly enough, a ping -t www.yahoo.com or www.google.com was showing differing TTL's. Sometimes it was 52 and sometimes it was 51. (remember, this was a continuous ping) Which means that I'm not taking the same path each time. Also, my latency is jumping around from 30ms to 300ms to the same hosts. I've also pinged servers that I run myself in the AA area and seeing the same sort of behavior with regards to latency.
There is definitely some latency and saturation problems on the WOW network in these areas. |

So, a bit slower than 8:45am....but nothing that I would complain about. |

| reply to annoyed I just tested this morning at 8:45 am and got the following:
Download Speed: 15389 kbps (1923.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 1102 kbps (137.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
I did unplug my router and disconnected the coax from my cable modem and then turned everything back on before I went to bed.
The support person kept reading my power levels to me over the phone saying it couldn't be their issue because my modem was getting the full upstream and downstream power levels. She then went on to say that the Internet is like a highway and when you get a lot of cars on it, it just naturally slows down. I said that while I understood that, going from 15mbps to 1mbps was a bit on the unacceptable side as far as a slowdown goes. Like I said, I can deal with 8 or 9 during peak times because it's still fast..but at 1mbps last night, a 400MB download on my Xbox360 took like 45 minutes.......which isn't cool. |
