lzep1968 : This thread is a little old, but I wanted to add my two cents here too. I'm located in Ferndale, MI and have had WOW for several years. Upgraded to the 8/1 package about a year ago when WOW upgraded their speeds.

Over the past few months, download speed has been getting consistently worse. Had a tech out to see what was wrong. He replaced the modem with a newer model. I got 8mbps download that day tested from their Flash speed test pages.

The very next day, however, download speeds went back to abysmally slow -- sometimes 2.5mbps, but usually lower around 1.5mbps to 1.0mbps. Upload speed seemed consistent around 1.0mbps as advertised throughout.

I will have to call back in and ask for some assistance. My feeling is that they're probably just oversubscribing their network and southeastern Michigan is getting busy enough to where we notice it now.
