[Serious] This is why we fold...

I just spoke with my wife and found out her grandfather is in stage 3 of 4 with an "angry" form of lung cancer that has matasticized in his left lung and moved into the lymph nodes. He starts a regime next Tuesday of 5 days of chemotherapy and 1 day of radiation for 5 weeks. If it arrests it, there is a 70% chance of 5+ years, if not it is under a year.

With the good news you take the bad...but this is why we Fold now isn't it?

So sad to hear about your wife's grandfather's diagnosis of lung cancer. My dad passed away from small cell lung cancer, an aggressive form of lung cancer, on Oct. 15, 2008. My mom has non small cell lung cancer. As you can see, I am all too familiar with lung cancer.

I am sorry to hear about your wife's grandfather...

Do take heart though, my father amongst a number of other ills, had part of one lung removed from lung cancer, and that was 6 - 7 years ago now...and he is doing alright, not great, but not so bad either!

ptrowski, I know what you mean: I began folding somewhat as a tribute to my wife's late aunt, who passed away from cancer...5 years later, who knew? Now my wife is battling cancer (and doing just fine!)

Sometimes folding just seems like "something decent to do", but then sometimes it is so much more.
