weaver0 join:2004-05-05 Macungie, PA	reply to Matt Re: Satellites and Latency but it's not a long term solution. latency will always be higher than terrestrial and weather is always a problem in the Northern tier. also, satellites can fail at the drop of a hat (keep in mind we're over due for a large solar CME)

The Revision E WiMax hybrid solution is probably the best short term solution for many un- or under-served areas in the short term and that makes it well suited to stimulus funding. The satellite backhaul can be replaced in the future as internet backbone gets nearer to these areas.
