fifty nine posted : Yeah I prefer a neat all in one solution.

TiVo does most of what I need a HTPC to do in one neat box. No blasters to worry about.

Besides with a lifetime sub and cable cards that I bought outright, it costs less per month than paying $10 for a Cable STB and there's much less lag when changing channels. Not to mention that dual tuners will cost $20 if I rent two cable STBs.

Most bang for my buck, IMO.

fifty nine posted : Tivo's biggest advantage is cablecard support. If there was a half decent cablecard tuner available that didn't force you to buy a whole new PC from the likes of Dell or HP I would jump on the HTPC bandwagon really fast.

Without cablecard or a cableco STB I can't decode three quarters of the HD channels I pay for.
