Tacoma vs DakotaI am comparing a 2003 to 2006 Toyota Tacoma to a Dodge Dakota of the same year.
Which one do you think has a better interior? Does anyone have any photos of what the interiors might look like? |

I have two people I work with that have Dakotas '06 and I think 2004 both said they will never own a Dodge product again. They complain of rough ride, the 2004 has had 2 trannys replaced. |

We are on our fourth Chrysler product and will own more in the future. Go look at both, test drive both, and make a decision. I have also owned a Tacoma and found it a very good truck. |

I had a 2000 Dakota 5MT 4 cylinder. Biggest mistake of my life. The transmission went to hell, the synchros were shot at a mind boggling 25,000 miles. Is that what Dodge designed their trucks for? To last roughly 2 years..I will never buy an American car, period.
I have a 2000 Tacoma V6 AT now. 83,000 Miles, purrs like its brand new and I know it will go one for at least another decade. |

Why the heck would you buy a truck that size with a 4 banger? The fact they ever offered it amazes me. |

Well if its available, why can't I buy it. Not everyone needs to plow snow with their truck. Some just need to carry a little more stuff. |

I understand that. But I still think it was a dumb idea for Chrysler to offer it. That engine and transmission were taxed hard with the weight of the truck, let alone any cargo people might put in it. It is not surprising they had transmission troubles with that one. |

Toyota Tacoma has TWO 4 cylinder engines. So apparently certain companies know how to make it right.
Edit: It's not that I hate American car companies. It just so easy to not like them. With the track record that Japanese cars its much easier to go for one. |

It's only been the last 20-25 years that they made good cars, before that they made cars that made riding a 10 speed a better option. |

Yes it does. If you can't tell which car has better fit and finish you're probably the reason why the big 3 are dieing. |

Not bad! Looks like the Accord from 2004. Good improvment. | |
So GM realizes their mistakes and fixes them...5 years later. Nope! |

I can't answer your question as well as you'd like, but based on my admittedly limited knowledge of current truck lines, I really like the Chevrolet Avalanche right now followed by the Dodge RAM 1500. The Toyota Tundra is okay, but I still think GM and Dodge are ever so slightly ahead in this segment. I wouldn't completely avoid the Nissan Titan right now on the used market, but do take note that they are discontinuing this model, potentially in favour of a brand engineered/rebadged Dodge. Also, I find Ford's offerings to not be very competitive at this time. said by Muscles:So GM realizes their mistakes and fixes them...5 years later. Nope! Your opinions are too blatantly coloured for others to take them into any sort of serious consideration. You don't even give a single American manufacturer a chance. Yes, there are bad American models, just as there are bad Japanese and German models. |

said by Muscles:Toyota Tacoma has TWO 4 cylinder engines. So apparently certain companies know how to make it right. And so do the Ranger, Colorado, and frontier. None of these are close to the weight and dimensions of the Dakota. The Dodge is closer to a full size than a compact when compared. The latest generation Taco is getting closer to Dakota size. My truck is above, just to show I am not biased either. It also has the four cylinder. |

The Dakota is built on a chassis that dates back to 1987. It is a great truck to buy for someone else to drive. |

So because the car wasn't fast, therefore it equals bad quality?!

I love this car, the 3.6 V6 in particular is very efficient and smooth. |

Those CTS-V's are a blast to drive. And even with the 3.6 SIDI engine w/ AWD they are quick. |

I mean that it was boring to drive. That has nothing to do with how fast it is. said by imrf:Those CTS-V's are a blast to drive. And even with the 3.6 SIDI engine w/ AWD they are quick. I actually prefer the V6 because I'd go for the new M3 or RS4 if I wanted a 4 door V8. |
