sonofjay : unsubcribed channels will be shutoff in a few days as soon as your new receiver pulls down your programming subscription that you pay for. All "replacement" receivers from cable companies do this for a few days right after they are replaced. But a within a few days the receiver will be reset to give you only the channels you have paid for.
--
Mission Accomplished

dslwanter : If you don't have an HDTV, no you will not get the picture. I have 2 HD TVs and the rest standard and on each digital box we get the HD audio, but no video since it's not capable. You may notice the extra channels if the receiver's card was messed up or if it wasn't tuning in all the channels. The installer tuned the new receiver and the receiver should recognize all of the channels on the line-up of your package.

If you complained, it could very well be them giving you an HD free trial, but I think they would've told him that.
--
Need a DJ within 60 miles of Youngstown, OH?
anon : Our original cable receiver stopped working, so my roommate asked for a new one, which he got free of charge. We noticed that we have nearly every channel now, although we didn't tell them to do this. We're even getting the HD channels, albeit without any video.

Assuming this is a mistake on Charter's end, should we expect a larger bill next month? Also, is there a way to get any video response out of the HD channels? Right now, I can hear the programs fine, but the screen is black.
