Metal framed buildingNot a "home" repair question, but we have an office building that is metal framed.
The building is fine, I guess metal is stronger and lasts longer than wood built, but as far as working with it, I'm not that good with metal.
Basically, in a metal building, the metal "studs" are pretty flimsy thin metal beams that are strong when holding up a wall, but when I want to hang something heavy on the wall, I'm not sure the best way to do it.
And the door frames are metal too, and currently I need to install basically a pull-up bar on the door, and not sure what kind of hardware to use. |

I know when we discussed hanging an LCD on the wall in our new office, the building said they would have to cut out the drywall in the area and install supports in the wall for it. Basically hang plywood or something between the metal beams.
I'm sure there was more to it, but they weren't going to mount anything through the wall directly to the beams. |
