| A better WOW! email system is coming soon An e-mail I received yesterday, from their new partner, synacor. Some pop3 users have already seen synacor in the mix.

We are always looking for ways to improve our products and services to ensure you have the best possible experience. In doing so, we will be launching a new email service this Spring. We will notify you via email prior to the transition.
All of the features you enjoy with your current WOW! email will still be available as well as exciting new features:
EMAIL FEATURES
New design: Features that let your read, write, organize and delete emails faster and easier.
Photo Attachment Previews: Get a glimpse of an attached photo using your mouse - no downloading of software needed.
Calendar: Manage your appointments and reminders from any computer with Internet access.
Auto Complete: Begin typing a name and we'll find the contact from your Address Book.
Access Anywhere: Get your email, calendar and address book from any computer with Internet access
Drag & Drop: Organize emails by dragging them to the folders where you want them stored.
Right-Click Menus: Just right-click from your mouse to reply, forward, delete, and mark messages as read/unread.
Search: Look for information within your emails, contacts, and calendars based upon subject, headers, and more
Spam Settings: Identify which emails should be delivered to your Inbox with WOW! spam settings.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THE TRANSITION
There is nothing you need to do to prepare for the new email service. Once we launch our new email service, after you log in, you will see a new email box in the upper right column of the WOW! Customer Home Page (portal.wowway.net).
Your email address will not change
You will not lose any emails during this transition
We will deliver an email to your Inbox notifying you that you are now on our new email service.

| Re: A better WOW! email system is coming soon From what I've seen, it looks an awful lot like Outlook Webmail or Outlook 2003. Much nicer than the other webmail program we had.
Speaking of webmail...I used GMail to check my WOW account too, but I tried to pull up webmail the other day (mail.wowway.com) and got nowhere. Have they dropped the webmail access temporarily, or did I have a brain fart and use the wrong address? | |

I have not received one email since monday to my email client. I know I should have got some cause i'm doing a draft for baseball on a forums and each time someone sends a message it gets delivered.
So I checked my webmail and it was all empty, no new messages. So I log into gmail and send a message to the account nothing, I send one from my wowway to my gmail and it's received, so I reply back to it, nothing. This was an hour ago.
So if they put up their new email system in the past few days I think it's a major fail, if not, what is the problem here? | |

| Re: A better WOW! email system is coming soon If you had a xxx@wideopenwest.com account, it's possible they moved it to xxx@wowway.com. They did this to me. I'm in the process of having my account changed back to wideopenwest.com.
I don't know why they can't route the old wideopenwest.com account to wowway.com for a period of time while users make the appropriate notifications (or even why they're moving off wideopenwest.com in the first place). | |

i did change my pop server tho, to pop.wow.synacor.com instead of whatever it was before | |

| Re: A better WOW! email system is coming soon ya I tried changing my pop server to that one, but no luck, but ya the emails I get are not even on the webmail. The problem must be with the servers. I contacted customer support with an email and gave them my google email so hopefully they will fix it, I don't feel like calling them but I guess I will If I have to. | |

Dana Thanks, I figured out the problem. I remembered I had my messages forwarded to another account as a backup (been doing it for months now). Apparently for some reason a checkbox got checked so my messages were just forwarded and deleted off your servers. Maybe it happened with the email upgrade, no idea, but I got it fixed now.

| The new email program is awful. I hate it. According to a customer service representative, so does most everyone else. She said they're receiving an uprecedented negative response to the change. One of the biggest complaints is that because of the mandatory advertising that now appears along the right side of the screen, many email messages have the last few words of every line clipped. You can switch to a "classic" version, which is better, but the overall email window is much smaller because of the "folders" bar on the left side of the screen, and the advertising bar on the right. It is a very frustrating system to use now. I can't believe that they think this is an upgrade! For advertising revenue maybe, but I'm sure they're losing many email account users, so who's going to see the ads in the long run? | |

Using mail filtering rules, if my mail said I had 3 and only downloaded 2, I went to webmail to see who was trying to spam me. If it was something I wanted, would add to my OK list. However, about 4 days ago I started having 1 that would never download, and going to webmail the way I always did, it showed nothing there.
After fiddling with Pegasus for half a day, I finally realized that pop3 was not getting mail from the place I logged into on webmail. NEW WEBMAIL STINKS!!! So they moved stuff, why let someone log into something that doesn't have anything there?

You have to logout of the previous page. This is really getting to STINK more and more. I've been using pop3 for 7 years and now I think I need to use someone other than WOW for mail.   | |

| I tried to check my email today and could not log in. I use Outlook and have or had a @wideopenwest.com email. I've had the same email for years. I called in and the fellow said my email was in limbo, because I hadn't logged in on the web page they put my email on hold. I don't use webmail and have no reason to login to WOW's webpage. Now he has to set me up with a @woway email and I have to call them again in 24 to 48 hours to change back to @wideopenwest.com. I think they should have made it clearer that the wideopenwest people would have issues with the improved email. | |
