[Hockey] Official Canucks thread.Since the playoffs are near,it's time for this thread. So far the the 2 most impressive players in the last couple of months have been Ryan Kessler and Alex Burrows.Kessler has fired up a new line with Sundin and Demitra ,and both older guys have benefited. Burrows is on fire and with the Sedin twins has added some much needed scoring punch. The 3rd and 4th lines are a toss-up and with Bernier,Pyatt and Raymond...you never know what to expect. Although they played pretty good last night. Luongo hasn't really stood on his head this year ,but hopefully with the playoffs getting closer he'll pick it up...cause with the porous defence they have ,he'll have to if they expect to get by the 1st round. Bieksa and Ohlund are probably the 2 most useless d-men I've ever seen..........they actually went down and blocked a shot last night, for the 1st time this year. |

We are lucky that Sundin only accepted a one year contract. |

Depending on how he performs in the playoffs,Gillis may even want him back next year.
Although with the Sedins wanting a bigger contract,I doubt we'll have enough cap space left over. |

Well it's a record 10 games in a row at home now. » www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id ··· ory_mainBut they seem to be in this get ahead by 2 or 3 goals early and then hang on for dear life in the 3rd. That's not going to work in the playoffs. And somebody has to bench Bieksa, how bad can this clown be? |

I think we should now be considered legitimate contenders for a Stanley Cup. A run through the play offs requires everything to fall into place, at the right time, and it appears so for the Canucks. The only weak link, at the moment, is Luongo. Too many soft goals, his puck handling is pathetic and, if he's our weak link, then things are fine. |

Luongo is by no means ''our weakest link''?
I agree he has let in some bad goals, but our d-men have played atrocious....how do the coaches not see this when they watch the game films?
Do me a favor and concentrate on Ohlund and Bieksa in the game tomorrow.
Then tell me who the weak links are.........these 2 are so constantly out of position,it's a joke.
Bieksa gave the puck away for a goal again last night, and in the game against Anaheim, last week,he was just standing at the side of the net ,while Selanne was 5 ft in front of Luongo with not 1 Canuck defenceman around.
So instead of trying to block the shot or do anything to impede Selanne ,he just stood there looking like he wanted a freaking pass ..........absolutely the most useless player along with Pylon on the Canucks. |

Hey 11 in a row at home, cool. Kesler ,Burrows and the Sedins again. I'm glad that they won't play the Blues in the playoffs......what a dirty, chippy team, just cheap shots and dirty hits. |

Pretty good showing against the 3rd best team in this half of the season IMO. Canucks 3 St.Louis 0 Moved past Chicago into 4th place. |

We have a rather soft schedule to finish the season. I feel we should do well in the playoffs. |

In this current streak the Canucks have going over the past 20 games Luongo has only been named a star twice, last night was the first time he was a first star. Lets hope he's heading for that zone. |

Yup,he looked pretty good last night, even when Ohlund tried to help the Blues score in the last minute.
We'll see how they do on this 6 game road trip. |

It's too bad it took the Canucks so long to put Burrows in there with the Sedin's. He is on FIRE. |

said by ZZZZZZZ:UGH...WTH happened? 5-0 against Phoenix! Well the Canucks were on a tear but its too good to last. They haven't played well on the road. They will rebound. Its a pity cause a win would have put them a point behind Calgary for the NW Division title. They were guilty of taking the Coyotes too lightly. Turnovers, too many penalties, plus you know it's not your night when you score on your own net! |

» communities.canada.com/t ··· ver.aspxRoberto Luongo is unsure about a future in Vancouver. Sometimes Luongo's honesty with the media gets him into PR jams. That could be the case again this week after he went off the "We are all Cancuks" script when asked whether being captain will influence his decision to sign an extension. "I don't think so. That's not something that's going to weigh on my decision," Luongo said. He probably should have stopped there. What followed was something you probably don't want to hear from your star player and captain. "I think first and foremost, I want to win the Cup and whichever team is going to give me the best chance to do that is the team I want to be with," Luongo said. "I love Vancouver, it's a great city with great fans. So far, I've really enjoyed my time there. Obviously, this year and next year are going to be a key role in my decision." It wasn't a thought out comment and it raises some interesting questions. |

Well it's been no secret that Luongo was here for 1 reason and that was to either win or do so well in the playoffs, that he would want to comeback. The circumstances with his wife refusing to move to Vancouver would suggest that he'll be gone after his contract expires. Now if he should win a Gold medal in the Olympics and Gillis gives him a ton of $$$$ and incentives, hopefully he'll re-sign.......... .but,I won't be holding my breath! |

Turco gets plastered by Hordichuk while coming way out of his net........about time time somebody nailed him. They should make the goalies fair game when they wander like he does. Game is getting rough. |

Canucks and Hawks should prove to be a rough series if they meet,in the 1st round. 4-0 Canucks and it's turned into a brawl... |
