Re: Speakeasy down nationwide

I'm generally OK with speakeasy. I have two circuits I manage for work.

Was in the middle of a vnc session to a server at work when it dropped and no packets tracerouted beyond their peering partners. Kept getting choked up at speakeasy.whatever.above.net and speakeasy.whatever.level3.net.

The CSR wouldn't believe me at first that it seemed that they were having some sort of peering-route poisoning-infrastructure problem since HE could connect to my circuits from inside the speakeasy network.

Figures.

I had to produce several traceroutes from boxes around the world I have accounts on before he would take me seriously. Put me on hold for a minute then came back with "uhh yeah, you seem to be correct..."

heh.

I've run into this in the past too. Level 1 support doesn't appear to be equipped to look at network connectivity issues. I would probably have asked the CSR to forward the ticket directly to the NOC, which is what I do when a flaky peer or circuit is dropping lots of my packets.

Anyway, Boston got reconnected after about 2-1/2 hours, as the stream of inbound spam resumed at 23:02.
