College Station, TX | RE The device is definitely over-hyped. It has been since the first iPhone. This year though (because we all know Apple plans to release a new iPhone and the only thing they will probably change is the case style) I will not be drinking the kool aid. The ridiculous lines, and the rude AT&T store employees are not worth it. I know one person, who was there at 3AM (we live in a smaller city) for the first iPhone and I think he showed up at 5AM for the second iPhone. It just is not worth it.
I am more than content with my Blackberry Bold. And I am sure others are waiting for the Palm Pre. Apple is only interested in one thing. Improving their App store, so they can keep raking in that 30% of the profits they get from the developers, which I think is already overly greedy. Let the developers take 90% and they can take 10%. The App store plus the portion of the revenue they get from AT&T makes it some mighty fine revenue.
As I stated before though, it will be interesting to see how many people get upset (because the average person that bought an iPhone) does not know yet that another one will be coming out. | |

I bought an iPhone last week knowing full well a new one will more than likely be out in the coming months, but what's the point of waiting for new hardware when the software will be the same. The only changes I foresee are some slight cosmetic differences, and maybe 16GB and 32GB models replacing the 8GB and 16GB ones. At least going from a 1st generation iPhone to a second generation iPhone you got something worthwhile, 3G, I doubt the differences between a second generation iPhone and a third will be that great.
