Re: help with sb5120 surfboard Your cable modem is rarely involved in DHCP, your router can hand out DHCP for about 250 devices, your ISP can hand out DHCP for one device. (Rarely, some ISPs hand out for 3 devices, but it is still a bad idea)
If you are trying to hand out 2 addresses with just a modem, you need a small router.
