| Q6600 + Asus P5K I currently have my Q6600 running at 3.01GHz (333FSB and 9.0 multiplier). Wondering what the highest capability people have reached, while maintaining stability with air cooling.
I'm also having trouble with my memory. I upgraded to 8GB of Crucial DDR2 1066, but I can't get it to run at 1066. If I set the clock to Auto in the BIOS, it runs at something like 835. And if I try to set it to 1066, Windows just won't boot.
Any suggestions? | |

| Re: Q6600 + Asus P5K What voltage is the ram at? Odds are it probably needs in the neighbourhood of 2.1-2.2v to post at 1066 Mhz.
I don't have any experience with that board, but some boards aren't a huge fan of all 4 dimms populated, and anecdotal evidence around the net seems to suggest that running a divider (cpu and ram running at asyncronous speeds) can throw a wrench into overclocking. The memory at 835 mhz is an actual clock speed of ~417 mhz .
In a lot of cases, people will lower the CPU multiplier and turn up the FSB. I've got mine at 7 x 458 right now, just to give you an idea. | |
