I also notice that the date on the blog posting is the same as the date on the email I received. Timestamp on the blog is four hours later.
Also, some bad news: the email is, apparently, legitimate. I found the policy on GoDaddy's site, buried under the Legal section.

....Nothing that I can see in it describes the consequences of not changing your password.
Going by the tooltip on the change password page, they only remember your last password. You might be able to change it once, then change it right back. -- The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon profitable cause... |
