slow speed and unstable connection

Hello everyone

I have been trying to solve this problem with Acanac for more than a week. They sent a bell guy and it's still the same. After they raised my profile the speed is better but DS is still below 5M, US is 500-600k which I think is ok.

Now Acacac is saying that it's my phone jack or inside wiring problem. But my question is that why I didn't have this unstable problem with Bell in the past.

here is my modem stats, can anyone tell me why it's phonejack or inside wiring problem?

Modem Status

Connection Status Connected
Us Rate (Kbps) 704
Ds Rate (Kbps) 5056
US Margin 6
DS Margin 19
Trained Modulation ADSL_G.dmt
LOS Errors 0
DS Line Attenuation 11
US Line Attenuation 20
Peak Cell Rate 1660 cells per sec
CRC Rx Fast 0
CRC Tx Fast 0
CRC Rx Interleaved 0
CRC Tx Interleaved 4
Path Mode Interleaved

DSL Statistics
Near End F4 Loop Back Count 0
Near End F5 Loop Back Count 0

thanks,
Eric

You could try to clean the phone jack wiring with ethylic alcool(you can buy the one sold in your local drugstore or pharmacy can't remember the right word) We saw some customer get their margin improved after doing that)

thanks, Fergilicious.

I used a different phone jack and different phone line to test my US margin.

They are still the same. I have no idea what I should do...

Any help is appreciated...

eric2k,
The DSL stats here look OK.
Current Profile is 6060/512.
Noise margins are 15/13.
Note that after initial line setup (or any profile change) there is an auto-tuning
process that may cause some fluctuations for several days.

Let me know if your connection is stable now.

The modem and ISP stats could differ. What is the model of your modem?

I am having the exact same problems and also had the rude and ignorant bell guy check my line as well. Very unstable still and slower download speeds. I believe it is the modem however now seeing another case i cant help but wonder if acanac is having problems. I am pusueing acanac to test the modem will update soon. I am in durham region not sure if it might be regional.

I suspected its modem problem at first but now i'm not sure. I bought a speedstream 5360 which is not a router just a modem. I think speed is faster than acanac modem( one of the reasons is that i have another router behend modem).

I want to give it a try for a while to see if problems will occur again.
