| WRT160Nv2 Internet Problem
I recently bought the WRT160Nv2 as my old router did not work in bridge mode (upgraded the dsl line of my ISP which uses bridge mode instead of PPPoE). I can connect fine to the internet but its been acting very wierd (and getting on my nerves). Problem is this, I can connect to the internet fine, I can play online games like WoW, CoD, etc without any lag or spikes whatsoever, however, while browsing with Firefox, it would constantly say 'Looking up www.google.com' for example. give a connection time out page, and when i refresh, it would load up the page fine. It happens to all the sites I visit, be it youtube, facebook, google, etc etc. So I tested, I alt tabbed in an online game, opened firefox to go to google, and the looking up www.google.com would appear on the bottom bar of the window, I would alt tab back into the game, and the game would be just fine, still online, still playing with no d/c's or spiking/lag, but the website would still not load. I am pretty sure its the router's problem but have no idea what to do to solve this (im thinking its the DNS maybe?) |

| reply to Wesss not sure if this might help but, whenever it says Looking Up www.google.com or any other website, to fix it, i would type 192.168.1.1 and connect to my router to get some activity, and the sites would connect through. I have to keep browsing through 192.168.1.1 links to get websites to connect. |

| reply to Wesss There are ton disscusion of DNS problem with WRT160N Ver 2.0 at Linksys forum web site. The router has problem optaining DNS with the lastest firmware,to temporary fix, many people have gone back to some older firmware version. I have this router but only for ROUTING, not GATEWAY. This is my very first post, don't think if I can link to the site that I'm talking about. |
