 | Armstrong in Harford, MD. Upgrades? I've noticed a lot of Armstrong trucks in the area with what appears to be large spools of fiber. (I am not an expert, but it looks similar to the Verizon trucks that I've seen... large orange cable spools.)
A month or 2 ago, I saw a lot of activity in my neighborhood... I got my hopes up for DOCSIS 3 / fiber service. I saw lots of line marking, including on my front lawn. But I haven't seen any activity for quite some time.
Does anyone have an idea what upgrades are planned for the area. (specifically, I am in the Tuchahoe Farms subdivision).
Thanks! |

| Sounds like what they did when they took over our township and built our new cable system. I'm going to be posting pictures of the service soon to include the fiber, tell me if it looks familiar when I do. It's not Docsis 3 though. -- Check our my internet radio station: »www.thebomb102.com, featuring new music and hits of the millennium, powered by FTTH! |

 | reply to johnm304 Armstrong is working hard in the area, but the system was in worse shape than originally thought. It takes time if you read dslwanters posts you will have some idea of the time involved. Once the system is repaired then Armstrong will have the ability to expand in the area. I think reasonably you are looking at about 6 months of rebuild time techs are working 60-80 hours a week down there. Most likely within a year or 2 if the neighborhood is economically viable. |

| reply to johnm304 We are currently replacing a lot of cable in Forest Hill. Yes, Verizon is running fiber for FIOS in some areas. We are hoping to be running DOCSIS 3.0 within a year. Our equipment is DOCSIS 3.0 capable but not currently running at that. The next increase in internet speed talked about was 20MBps but that could change. The main goal we are working on now is cable replacement. We have already run lots of new fiber. Forest Hill is the last node we have to work on with lighting up the new fiber. Should be very soon. We just added another downstream and upstream channel for the internet to load balance the forest hill node since it is a high subscriber area/node. This should prevent any slow-downs during peak usage hours. your local Armstrong tech |
