| NYC DoITT Complaints
I submitted a complaint to the NYC DoITT regarding the poor RR service on 3/19/09. I received an e-mail response today stating that the DoITT did not have jurisdiction on Internet Phone or Internet related services. They recommended I contact TWC directly. Is this for real or did the NYC civil servant have no clue?

| Certainly in New York State and City (as in most states), Internet Access/Services, regardless of whether they are supplied by a cable operator, a telephone operator, or an independent, are not a "regulated utility".
Now that you mention it, we need to remind people that contacting state/city departments/regulators/PSC or PUCs (Public Service/Utility Commissions) are a waste of time.
As people have found out in the "Palisades Park" thread - contacting TWCs 'Office of the President' often offers the best available alternative.... |

| Is NYC TWC collecting $9.99/month under false pretenses for RR Turbo? I understand that their TOS for Standard Service doesn't guarantee speed/performance, but to charge $10 extra per month and providing the same level of service as a Standard Service subscriber is unethical and maybe illegal. At the very least, they should suspend the extra charge until they can provide a higher level of service to Turbo subscribers.
BTW, I am looking foward to starting my 10th year as a member of "DSL Reports"!!!! I feel like a pioneer. Time flies when you're having fun.

Attorney Generals Office might be a better thought. |

I really want to know what is going on with TWC. |

| reply to SRF26 I also received a letter saying that they don't have jurisdiction on internet phone or internet related services
"Dear Mr. XXXXXXXXX:
New York Citys Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications only has jurisdiction over Cable TV franchise complaints and does not have the authority to process Internet speed or other Internet-related service complaints. You should contact your provider directly with your complaint. For Time Warner Cable complaints, please send to: Time Warner Cable, Research Department, 41-61 Kissena Blvd., Flushing, NY 11355.
If the dispute still persists after you have contacted the provider directly, you may contact the Federal Communications Commission Consumer Affairs Division at 1-888-225-5322 or online at www.fcc.gov/cgb/complaints.html, or the New York State Attorney Generals office if consumer fraud is suspected. 1-800-771-7755.
Thank you for your inquiry. I apologize for any confusion involving your complaint with Time Warner Cable.
Sincerely,
Peter J. Schwab

what dont u guys get. doitt has no jurisdiction over data services. the "personalized" letter is a form letter for the tons of complaints regarding roadrunner, optonline, etc. they must send a form letter so that they can devote resources to cable tv complaints. if u want a personalized letter,,,well good luck. |

| Actually I received a letter from the same person but mine was worded very differently. In addition, He made specific comments regarding issues in my complaint. I believe he is actually reading the complaints or there could be a bunch of different people responding under his name. |

| Btw, this was part of my letter and it might help clear up some confusion about the DOITT.
"Unfortunately, DoITT only has jurisdiction over Cable TV franchise complaints. We maintain franchises with Cable TV providers who utilize city property and rights of way, to construct and maintain their cable systems. We do not have the authority to process and follow-up on Internet-related services or speed issue complaints." |

Then they pay to disconnect you, pay to maintain the possibility of service to you, pay to advertise to you, and pay to offer you a discounted promo offer to come back. Meanwhile you pay them nothing. |

| Very good NSA_CIA, i could not agree more, maybe this is the only real way for a huge company to make the correct changes in order to maintain a customer base, and maybe this is the only alternative for a customer to get final results.
Att spends money sending me upto 10 different ads a week via snail mail to "switch back" i vow never to get services from this pork company even for free! going 3 years strong with that.
1. if a said service is not working why does one expect one phone call to resolve all issues?
2. if said issues are not resolved within say 60 days why not DUMP this said service?
3. instead, one seems to insist on screaming and complaining in hopes it will magically get fixed? HUH seriously grow the ..... up people, would one depend on a car with an engine going out every week? yes drastic, but one should get the idea |
