IE8 InPrivate filter from adblock plus list

rules.zip 8,842 bytes
zipped xml file

I created an xml for inprivate filtering from the basic adblock plus list for adware servers. All you have to do to use it is import the xml (unzip first) into inprivate filtering from manage ad-ons.

I tried to use an xml made from the hphosts lists but the browser slowed down due the big number of entries.

Thanks, but how would I update this list in the future?

I update that list myself as I go. There is no one else out there doing it right now for inprivate that I could find.

Man this thing works well.

Then I add the registry dword I found in Neowin:-

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Safety\PrivacIE

DWORD "StartMode" value 1 (hex).

and starting Internet Explorer (even without InPrivate browsing mode) and InPrivate Filtering will be automatically started without having to be enabled every time the browser started.

Thank you Annoy
I could not use IE8 because it was so slow with lotsof sites in restriced zone.

However I notice no sites being blocked after I click inprivate filtering settings in status bar. Auto, choose or setting number of sites to 3 does not seem make difference.
Could it be b/c I set securty_hlm_only ?

PS.
I googled that you have to:

add “\” in front of a “.” and add a “.” in front of an “*”.

Yes but tried it and didn't make a difference so left it as is.

Please keep in mind that this was done as a proof of concept. I'm building a new filter list which will be much more effective then the adblock plus filter list.

I imported the list, but it does not work at all!
With Filtering On and Off or Inprivite mode and normal mode!

thanks for this information! registry hack and xml file now installed.

Hello.
Can I ask you how did you converted the ABP filters into XML to make it compatible with InPrivate Filtering?
Thank you in advance.

thank you for setting this up, makes IE8 useable now

question - I noticed that the rules.xml file has not been updated since March. Is there any planned update to the xml file?

Thanks again!

Microsoft published a template for the XML.

I'm working on a new XML which works better with ie8 but I'll publish an update from the latest adblock plus in 2-3 days.
