Trunk Amp

Notice the lack of a return amp? No cable modems here, fellas!

I've been reading back and forth on the forums and front page for a while about how everyone wishes so bad that they could hurry up and get DOCSIS 3.0 service for those blazing fast internet speeds and the likes.

Just to let you know, you may have to wait a while in your area, but at least your better off than my locality. Introducing a "brand new" trunk amp that was just put in a new subdivision.... in all its 450mhz glory. Just happen to be around while the unit was unsealed and had to pry into our local CATV's reason for "no-one possibly wanting cable internet in this city"

Re: Trunk Amp

wow... magnavox..... now there's a name that fell off the earth about 8 years ago.... i'm amazed they're still in business... especially with how ghetto that box is --- looks like it was purchased off of ebay in the "vintage tv equipment" category....

wonder if they still have an extended warranty or active support contract

ha

They prob have a "scrap it" warranty... as it when it breaks, scrap it and grab another bulk vintage replacement part out of the just got off ebay box,

Wow that's old.

After Magnavox (which made gear up to 750 MHz), Phillips took over and made gear up to 860 MHz for a period of time, and some 1 GHz.

Then C-Cor bought them.

Like others have said, wow! I've seen some old equipment, but 450Mhz plant...

Did I say wow yet?

edit - Just noticed that the power supply for that amp was serviced in 2006. I'm surprised anyone would still mess with that equipment. Of course I know a few telcos who still run on old analog phone switches, so the fact that someone still services that amp shouldn't surprise me.
