Cox has been using the same boxes here since 1999 or so. The boxes barely even run "On-Demand" and often require resets. I spoke with a local Cox Tech and he said that Cox had a ton of issues when deploying iTV and On-Demand on these boxes and that these boxes are just way too slow. He said that they really should have replaced all these old boxes, but they won't because of the price.
That's one of the reasons I switched to Dish Network. The boxes that Cox provides, at least in my market, are just too slow and unstable. It takes 3-5 seconds just to have something appear on the screen after pressing the GUIDE button. It's nuts. |

 | flexbaud what boxes do you guys use? |

POS Boxes. |

1 edit | said by MJimLay:scientific atlanta explorer 2100 POS Boxes. we use motorola in Omaha I haven't seen anything slower or crappier than the motorola dct 2000. Do they have hd boxes if it's the same rental as the plain digital box it might be worth exchanging for a speed improvment. |

 | reply to MJimLay said by MJimLay:scientific atlanta explorer 2100 POS Boxes. Yeah, you're right about that, those 2100 boxes were trash. Slow as rocks. -- "Don't steal. The government hates competition." Beyond AM. Beyond FM. XM |

Dave Cox, at least in my market, only uses the 2100 as their standard receiver. The only others are the DVR, HD, and HD DVR. I do not have a HDTV in my home, and I wouldn't need a DVR in my office but would like to watch Bloomberg. |
|
 | if it's the same price for the HD box per month I would get just for the speed. |
