Re: Nice..

You are taking the money out of the pockets of the people who deserve it, so yes... I call that stealing.

While the owners may not make any money off of a *potential* sale because a file gets copied, there is no taking or stealing.

You are not TAKING AWAY anything from anyone.

You are depriving them of POTENTIAL revenue, which is vastly different.

Sorry I have to disagree. The RIAA and MPAA deserve NOTHING. The ARTIST deserves it all. The only power the RIAA and MPAA have is a big coffer of money to offer to an artist to basically write his rights away just to receive that money UP FRONT instead of collecting it little by little like an independent artist does.

Middle men is all the RIAA is. Without the artist, they are nothing.

No matter how many times you say it's stealing, in the strictest sense of the law, it is not! We don't go by personal beliefs in the court system, we go by the definition provided by the law. It is copyright infringement, not burglary, not robbery, not stealing, otherwise the courts would call it that.

No, you're not. If you were actually taking money out of someone's pocket that would in fact be stealing. As it is, you are simply opting to copy data in a manner that does not result in a payment to the copyright holder.

Here is an illustration of the difference:

don't forget that the people that started this whole fight, to get themselves started were tape traders themselves.
