You have to remember that 90% of canadian territories are rural and spread out in Comparison to the US. Next time you get a chance, go look at some maps and compare the sizes between US and Canada and the spread of roads.
With the wide coverage of Teksavvy's customer base, doing wireless based last mile coverage to replace what they are getting now with Bell's lines would be extremely expensive and difficult to set up. Even if they had the money for it, the raw manpower to keep the necessary equipment maintained that would have to cover the wide expanse of Canada would be more than they can handle I'd think.
Wireless isn't the end all solution to these things. Maybe here in the states with small rural/suburban companies that have their own small patch of coverage they can handle with a half dozen radios tops, but TS doesn't operate in the US and they have a much larger customer base than the small wireless companies. -- I swear, some people should have pace-makers installed to free up the resources. Breathing and heart beat taxes their whole system, all of their brain cells wasted on life support.-two bit brains, and the second bit is wasted on parity! ~head_spaz

| Re: LOL... Then maybe TS shouldn't be in business. And no I don't have to remember they size of Canada compared to here. It is just as easy to do it there as it is here. they have MMDS services there as well. They cover hundreds of miles at at time. I don't see them doing that. I don't see them even trying to do anything, except bitch about Bell. If they really cared about their customers and the way they are treated by Bell they'd be out building something for their customers instead of leaching off bell's copper more by reselling phone services and Express Dish Services. | |

Never mind the fact of having to cross the barrier of having been a wireline provider for multiple years, but even converting everyone to wireless would be very difficult...
Beyond this you then also have to deal with getting feeds to each of these locations which requires someone to do it through, you guessed it, a telco or cableco incumbent/monopoly. -- TSI Rocky - TekSavvy Solutions Inc.

| Re: LOL... have you heard Backhaul PtP links?
But as said before, you just want to use what's already built and claim you have the right to use it until the copper rots and then want Bell to rebuild out again and let you piggy back off them.
And I do understand how it works. You and your customers want Bell TO GIVE you access to their network and compete against them. You each pass the buck to each other when something goes down.. But I don't get why you would want to deal with them? You're in business to compete and offer a better product. But in really you're not. You offer DSL the same as they do, and RELAY on them to fix anything. You would think from a business stand point you would want to get as far away from them as possible. But sounds like you're actually happy with doing business with them and just put up the front that you don't like them. You use the same out dated network they use and everything. You're just an equal with maybe better service then them. You would have the upper hand if you went and built out your own network. Maybe you should think about that instead of worrying about getting Landline Phone services and Dish TV services. Maybe offer the new network for new customers only. You know MOT does give trial packages of the Canopy product to ISPs to try for less than the full retail version. Hell you could even check into Sky Pilot products and or Bel Air Networks.
