ImBatman posted : Vonage IS a rat.

I purchased a wireless "Vonage device" NEVER got the rebate. It didn't work (supposedly that model was defective; but, last i checked Best Buy still sold it). Vonage did refund the money, so, in that sense, I got my money back.
BUT...
After several months of complaining about the piss-poor service, and being lied to about billing issues, I decided to cancel. Despite the corporate office having verified the tape, and my claims were true, I was told "We still cannot honor that". So, piss on them for lying to me not once, but twice.
THEN, when I cancelled, I was charged for the equipment I returned, AND a cancellation fee, which I was told several times I would not be required to pay, because I purchased my equipment, returned equipment, and was not under any time frame contract.
Lies 3,4 and 5.
After getting off the phone with Vonage, I called my CC co to stop the charges before they went through, but, they had already gone thru! Not even 10 minutes later!

Vonage can go to hell for all I care.

Btw, interesting how I had gotten dropped 30-50 times a day (literally, NO exaggeration) with Vonage, but, when I went with Time Warner's digital phone, I have been dropped maybe 10-20x in almost a year's time! Of course, my friend has Vonage, never once a poblem with his connection or his phone service. Had they not lied to me, I could have and would have chalked it up to bad sevice area, and if I moved, I would have returned. But, lie to me? Oh hell no! They got a couple hundred bucks, and thats it. Vonage can go to hell for all I care. I'd rather go back to smoke signals than use them

J E F F posted : The Mastercard (Visa)/Chequeing Card was available in Canada a long, long time ago. This was at the time that stores only took credit cards, money or cheques. Then came the credit card cheque debit card, but 3 or 4 years later, interac came around, and everyone could use the Debit Card to make purchases everywhere, so no need for the credit card debiting your chequeing account anymore. That was a mouth full. Anyway, I am not sure why Vonage and companies like Sirius have issues using Canadian banks, but I gather they think the credit card thing is a lot easier.
--
"I think there is a world market for maybe five computers."
Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943

mswatcher posted : I know my story sounds strange but it did happen and I had to go to the Better Business Bureau to resolve it. I'm sure that they have good reports as well on Vonage. Unfortunately, my only experiences with them were bad. Vonage over debited me incorrectly, couldn't find me in their data base when I called for over a month and didn't completely resolve the monies they owed me until BBB came to help and now they are cooperating I hope. I went to Broadband and AT&T as I was researching places because of cost and thought Cablevision in Ct while very good was way too expensive which started my search. Once I went to Broadband from Dial up their was no way to go back to Dial up I decided. Broadband is so much better generally. Good luck Mahermusic with your experiences with them and thought it was important to let people know so others might be careful as I was shocked needless to say when I saw my bank statement from them and just be aware about it.
