Re: [rant] right side bar ads I don't see any ads. Primarily because I've used client access for email as long as I have been using the Internet; longer, when you count the online services I used before getting a proper Internet service.
I am using 'pop.att.yahoo.com:995' to fetch my email.
If you are using Web mail because you want to access email when away from home, get a service, such as AOL Mail (free), or Gmail (free), which offers IMAP access. Set up your account to forward email to either service, and set up a client for IMAP access. You can set up a client to access the AOL, or Gmail IMAP server, and send through 'smtp.att.yahoo.com:465'.
Any MS client will work for you (Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail, Windows Live Mail), or you can use Mozilla Thunderbird.
