| Mt Bachelor in Central OR is a great place. About 3 hr drive from Portland. Skiing quality (runs, lifts, snow) is up there with top-line ski areas. Its on a dormant volcano (most ski areas here are), and there are runs down all 360 deg around. The snow is drier than the typical NW glop, since its east of the Cascades. No accomodations at the ski area. You can get a hotel room in Bend or rent a nice condo at SunRiver resort, both about 20 miles away. »www.mtbachelor.com
