| Remember theaters, no business model is forever. Back in the 1950's Television decimated the Theater Business. The movie industry fought back by not allowing any movies, not in the public domain to be shown on Television. The movie industry whined and weaseled for ten to fifteen years. Then they fought the VCR. How short sighted they were. Now one of the Movie industries major revenue streams is Subscription TV (HBO, etc.) and DVD's.
The Cable TV Industry must find another business model. The Cable TV Industry does not seem to realize that there is no guarantee that a particular business will work forever. How many stables and buggy dealers do you find these days. The Cable TV Industry provided crappy service until the Satellite Television Industry cleaned their clock. They finally saw the hand writing on the wall and introduced Digital Television Service to COMPETE! The Cable Television Industry should consider a new model which is using their networks for data transmission and allowing any service provider to use their network.
The government has not helped the consumer since Regan took office in 1980. Time to write to you Congressmen and Senators opposing regulatory protection of the Cable TV Industry. |
