Digital TV

we don't watch our local news stations as much anymore cause it is so hard just to get reception even though we are 15 miles outside the city (and away from the towers). I have to do the ol' antenna trick everytime while my wife watches the screen to see the picture clarity. I would rather just goto accuweather.com to have to deal with that mess.

If I had broadband I would watch the news stories online, I have enough problems staying connect to the good RevA of the alltel card much less just trying to watch a video would be a nightmare. I have to hit play pause it go get something to eat get a glass of tea and come back and half of it's downloaded.

I just hope Verizon's data is way better than this in my area.

you don't have digital Tv then. You either get clear picture or no picture. No such thing as snow with digital TV. Most digital stations are UHF if you have "rabbit ears" they won't work since they are VHF antennas. Also if you're that close and you're using an ampified antenna you're probably overloading the singal.

Accridng to Tvfool.com and the FCC wesite you shouldn't have any issues getting in several stations.

Re: Digital TV

Ummm. I never mentioned snow, we get bad pixelation and garbled audio.

Edit: Also I have bad everything here, there is something about this area. Our cell phones work half the time if even at all, we have horrible TV reception and have problems keeping the Alltel card connected. There is some sort of interference but yet nobody believes me.

Re: Digital TV

I am 45mi from town and get all of my local DTV stuff. Do you have an indoor/outdoor antenna in/outside ur house? if not that may be ur problem. Walmart has one for $39 and bestbuy has a better 1 for $50.

Re: Digital TV

I have bought many different types of antenna's to the point for just one TV in total I have spent over $300 in antenna's. I have tried indoor and out, for the cell phone issues I have a amplifier / antenna combo and that don't even help any, it's like it's amplifying noise. I have even mounted the cell phone antenna to a 25' pole and raise it up as high as I could and it never helped, that actually hurt it.

I just gave up, one of these days I will upgrade my DirecTV dish and get local channels but until then I will just rely on the internet

Re: Digital TV

I thought ALL direct costumer get locals included? I know dish makes u pay $5 extra(unless you get the dvr[dual tuner] in which case they are "free") But every1 I have known with directv got locals at no extra cost.

Re: Digital TV

Oh, ok. Dish has a promo right now if you really want to upgrade. and the DVR is a dual tuner, two dvrs/tvs one box.

Re: Digital TV

I tried DishTV at my inlaws and I can't get used to the channel layout. I have tried so many times, I guess it's just because I've been a DirecTV customer for so long. When I brought the DirecTV with me when I married my wife she favors the channel layout of DirecTV over Dish.

We have considered switching before but it's just the layout.

Re: Digital TV

Yeah, I wish I had some test equipment to see what is interfering the frequencies. It's not just one it's all frequencies. I have to run 2.4ghz router at 250mW in order to cover my house (1900sq ft all one floor). Even then I get low signal in certain places. Our house is a stick frame all wood structure.

I have yet to think of anything besides of a certain number of factors such as the tons of quartz rocks and aquifer with high iron under neath our properties. I'm not sure
