The only broadband Viagra needed is to separate the content from the delivery and make the last mile common carrier. |

 | reply to Edrick Because most people are lazy and uninformed. It's so much easier to complain and do nothing. For those who complain AND do something about it. Actually get up and make things happen, so many people just don't want to do that. Not to mention, so many people just are not aware of the power that they posses. |

Why don't you call your ISP and disconnect your broadband connection and tell them you're going back to dialup?
Yeah, thought so. |

If I'm not happy about getting screwed by Cox or AT&T I should do something about it!
Ok, I'll switch! To a reseller!! Oh wait, they'll still profit off me, resold service, and I'll pay more. OK I'll switch to a better competitor.... Hmmm what competitor.... hmmm.
OH I know you mean! You mean I should do something like have a hunger strike in front of AT&T's corporate Headquarters? Or maybe you're thinking I should like shoot up the place or firebomb it if I'm into some ultraviolence?
Or maybe you mean legally like .... write a letter ? Wait, that would be complaining and bitching but not doing anything....
Ok, NM.

| reply to RadioDoc Regulations should be passed that force Broadband Internet Access to be delivered the same way Dial-Up Internet Access was delivered.
Before the widespread deployment of broadband internet access, a Dial Up ISP would order PRI's from the local telephone company and use them for incoming access by customers. There was a point when competitive local exchange carriers competed with incumbent local exchange carriers and actually drove the monthly cost of PRI's down. I know because I ordered PRI's and the reduction in cost was about 40%.
In the new environment, regulation would force cable and telephone companies to open up their networks at reasonable regulated prices to ISP's, then prohibit Cable and Telephone Companies from providing Internet Access. The other alternative is to split the Cable and Telephone companies into switching, content and transport providers. |
