 | reply to dishrich This is a Tru2Way cable box, they don't have to convince any cable company to leave SA or Motorola. All they have to do is sell them in stores or direct to consumers. Who then get a CableCard from their cable company and authorize this box. |

If you read this the PDF & other posts, it is NOT being positioned as a consumer bought unit, but a cable-op supplied box: »www.satelliteguys.us/general-cab···t1764921
I stand by my posting... |

Uh, yea - and, it still not going to make ANY difference as far as cable ops go; it's STILL basically a Charlie Ergan company, who is NOT exactly known to be "cable friendly" - you of all people should know this... |

Comcast has tinkered around with Tivo for almost 5 years now and it hasn't really come to bear fruit yet. Here comes Echo who's making a box for the other side of the business they'd have interest in (sat) and embarrass the hell of out them ALL WHILE making a profit which will ultimately assist in DISH.
It's kind of like the how the US spends money with other countries so they other countries can finance their attacks against the US using our own money.
This is really going to slap cable in the face if/when these boxes are able to be used tru2way and are sold on the retail market. Watch DISH make money from cable customers..
Also, I know several people at Dish who have said that this box will also be available for the DISH service too. |

I ALREADY saw it in action at CES - I can assure you this unit will be out LONG before the cable version does! |

You're way right about that too.. and sadly, I think that this box will be VERY slowly adopted by cable providers.. for one, the investment.. and two, they're not going to like the model of the new DVR box.. or, they'll cripple it so bad that it wouldn't be worth even $1.99 a month to rent. |
