1 edit | Sling Box Functionality??? I love when companies steal what everyone else is already doing and pretend it is theirs. This should not be called "Sling Box Functionality". It should be called internet video streaming.
People were recording TV shows onto harddrives before TIVO. People were streamiung TV shows before Slingbox.
Neither company invented anything. -- For those of you playing a drinking game.... MY FRIENDS! |

And with a much nicer GUI.... It is much more than streaming also... |

Talk to anyone who has used a Tivo dvr and a regular cable dvr or satellite dvr and see which one the like better. 9 out of 10 times it will be the Tivo. -- »www.seabee.navy.mil |

 | reply to r81984 What the heck are you talking about?
It is Slingbox functionality because ECHOSTAR BOUGHT SLINGBOX and integrated it into this DVR.
Why would they call this anything but Slingbox functionality?
"Yes, we own Slingbox, but let's not say our box has Slingbox functionality, let's say it has internet video streaming."
Which isn't even the same thing. Do you even know what a Slingbox does? It connects to your coax or to your cable box/TiVo/Sat box, and tunes channels remotely so that you can watch live TV or DVR'd shows from your house. How is that anything like streaming video from some Internet site? Other than "video" is the common thing involved.
Me going to Hulu to watch a show is not the same as me tuning my cable box at home from a hotel 1000 miles away so I can watch the local news, or shows that I have DVR'd at home. |
