Knology , packet loss and intermittent connection

March 31,

For the last 3 months Ive had to deal with being kicked offline for anywhere between 50 seconds and 2 minutes, around 2x an hour, round the clock.

After over a dozen calls, and 2 tech visits, I got the 'we dont know whats wrong' speech. The field techs busted their tails to help and the CSRs were trying to help, but they havent been able to solve the problem.

Im in Panama City, Fl, I know that a large portion of this area is experiencing the same problem at the same time. Alot of gamers in the area and we all get fine cable connection except for these intermittent kicks. During the kicks, packet loss goes up to 80%, and i get disconnected from my game.

It is insufferable. The techs know about it, the CSR's know about it, but when I called the general manager, not only did Have a hell of a time even getting a call back, but he claimed to not be aware of the problem.

So.... as much as I hate to do it, Im leaving knology after over 9 years as a customer. And with the lack of response from the incompetent management, I am going to go out of my way to take as many of their customers with me as I possibly can and will in the future try my best to dissuade anyone and everyone that is thinking of using this service until they get someone running the show that understands customer service.

If any of your traffic is going through hubh. which most likely it is that's your problem they have been having problems with that hub for some time now. i was told i would get a call back from maintenance about the issue.

I don't do much online gaming so I can't say much for that.

Bring on DOCSIS 3.0

ask for a monitor to be put on the line, that helped me. had a tech come out at night when my stuff was going on.

Same problems here in the LH area, for several months. Of course, no one has a solution. It's not the modem, it's not the wireless, anything such. We've been trying to watch hockey streams and follow the Red Wings and regularly have gotten kicked off for around a minute at a time, or so. Happens as often as 15 minutes apart, sometimes not for a couple hours, sometimes not at all. Cuts off our VoIP phone calls, Internet streams, everything. Not just at our house either-- we have K* at work as well, and we sometimes will get brief outages in the afternoon.

Oh yeah, they're aware of it, but won't fix it. I can't believe I'm saying this but if they don't get on the stick, I may have to go back to Crimecast. And they still haven't got my billing straightened out after dropping digital cable. After 2 years, they're charging me for a modem that I bought? Hmmmm--

I've noticed over the last week that my modem loses upstream sync at least twice a day. It never last more than about 5 seconds at a time.

But it is just enough to kick me of my RDP session to the office computer.

It's time for DOCSIS 3 upgrades to start, don't wait for Crimecast to do it first! Knology has been on DOCSIS 1.1 long enough.
