so im capped at a total 50mb shared between the 3. that 50 for each modem? i just got confused when you said total between them. just wondering

also my other question is do i need to have cable tv and or phone service to get the $90 price? because i really dont watch tv much at all and have no need for a landline phone when i have a cell anyways.

You have 3 IP's on one modem, so you could have a IP for your XBox, another for PS3, and one for your computer... so that if you game a lot, you can just tell someone which IP to connect to.

I personally find having 3 IP's is a bit too much. Port 80, 25, etc are going to be blocked anyway, why would a regular home user need 3 IP's when some ports are blocked? :-(

The cap is 50Mb/sec. per modem regardless of whether or not you use all the IP addresses. I'm not aware of that price being any kind of a bundle discount so the price is what it is.

Cool cause i was just wondering for when ever it comes to my area, since we have like 4 people in the house, that we can have 3 set ups and not slow someone else down for any reason. so if thats the case $90 isnt bad a month. just wish they could get the upload up to 50mb or atleast something decent like 20 or 30

You would get one upstream channel total per modem for the modem for everybody to share.

Just to clarify some of the questions that have come up. $89.99/mo. is the service cost per modem. You get 3 IP addresses but all 3 IP addresses are tied to the same modem. Bandwidth is provied at 50Mb downstream and 5Mb upstream and the IP address count has no impact the QoS.

Thanks. That answers everything clearly

The following Video, Internet and Phone (VIP) bundles have been combined to make your switch to LUS Fiber easy. Or you can build your own bundle and still take advantage of the best rates. Our pricing is simple and straightforward with no confusing promotional rates or hidden costs. Each of our service offerings will be individually discounted. Our full suite of products and channel lineup will be announced in early 2009. Customers will be notified by mail when LUS Fiber is ready to take orders in their area.

VIP Silver - $137.21
Video: Digital Plus (more than 250 digital and HD channels, access to the Internet via TV, Video On Demand, Pay-Per-View) and HD Receiver Rental = $63.31
Internet: Turbo 30 Mbps download and upload = $44.95
Phone: Basic Line* and Premium Phone Features Package** = $28.95

VIP Gold - $199.99
Video: Digital Plus (more than 250 digital and HD channels, access to the Internet via TV, Video On Demand, Pay-Per-View) and All Premium Movie Suites (more than 40 channels) and HD Receiver Rental = $98.09
Internet: Extreme 50 Mbps download and upload = $57.95
Phone: Basic Line, Premium Phone Features Package and Unlimited Long Distance = $43.95
Is this for real? In Baton Rouge, I have Cox and BellSouth, and I spend about $202/mo for essentially the "VIP Silver" package, though the Internet isn't nearly as fast. I do have two DVRs and one HD receiver, so I wonder how much they would add to the $137 package?

cox is going to have one big problem then.unless we know for a fact what the prices are. that's cheap and what cox should be around for their 3.0 service.

OK, let me get this straight.. you mean the "ultimate" tier is the only one getting this and not premier? sorry but that's way beyond what i can afford.

maybe it's time we started asking all of the telcos (including at&t) to start putting down fiber and offering FIOS like products across the country.

someone clear me up that this will effect the PREMIER and the new ULTIMATE?

DOS. 3.0 speeds (fantasy)

Econom: 50/5 $29.95
Pref.: 100/5 $49.95
Premiere: 200/10 $59.95
Ultimate: 300/20 $129.95

Cox, please don't rip us off JUST because we are NOT lucky enough to have FIOS here.. gurrr..

-Rob
rob there currently is no cox ultimate tier. hopefully when everything gets worked out premiere and preferred will see speed increase.

rob it's only in one market when your market launches 3.0 you will know. Who knows what they call the tiers after docsis 3.0 goes live in an area.

nongobi do you have a router?

Yes, I do. I have the Linksys WRT54G. With the router hooked up to the Cisco cable modem I get about 26Mbps down. I have the cable modem hooked up directly to my computer and the speedtest I showed is what I am getting. I need to figure out what's up with my router.

I'm sure the WRT54G wasn't designed to handle those type of speeds.

I thought if I am hooked up wired to the router then it should be capable of 100mbps internally, or that's what the router can handle? Over wireless it would be less... Perhaps I am wrong.
