When I recently bought my Linksys WRT160N they had slightly more expensive Linksys model that had gigabit ports.

According to the cable modem specs its a gigabit capable ethernet port. Any routers out there handle gigabit on the WAN ports?

Best thing to do would be to follow one of those FAQs for building a simple Linux box router. You can pick whatever processor and network cards you want then

There's your answer... greater than 100mbps ... »m0n0.ch/wall/facts.php
IPCOP is also a very good linux distro for this purpose. I had very good luck with it. ClarkConnect also used to be very good.

Looks like Cablevision is doing their DOCSIS 3.0 right... 101/15 connection for $100 a month.

Give me a 50/5 megabit connection for $60 a month I'm there.

One problem I would have paying this kind of money for 100 Mbps download- at this point in time, many sites cannot send data to me at anything even close to that rate, so I wouldn't always get the benefit of the connection. In the future, once sites upgrade their servers, then these speeds will be more usable.

Nice speeds, but thats only with powerboost and it only shows for short periods of time. I wish i could get my upload speeds around 3mb. But even before they did my split i was only seeing like 2.5mb up. now with the split. i see max around 1.92mb up, which you would think would be odd with faster down speeds, and on a new and clean node. Maybe they arent supplying enough upload bandwidth to my node atm.

Plus i always notice my upsteam power levels are always high 40's.

I have a Speedtest when PowerBoost was not on DOCSIS3 on page 3, just to give you an idea what it is without.

what's your source? I haven't heard any speed changes to the lower tiers when docsis 3.0 is released.

The other area gets 100 because they are in a HAVE area. AZ only gets 28 because they are in a HAVENOT area.

Honestly dvd536 I don't care what area is a have or have not.

Everyone knows the PHOENIX market is what generates the revenue for the other systems to have all the fancy technology and we get squat.

We pay more, they pay less. We get less, they get more.
