Cisco makes great cable modems, and are the most reliable, in my opinion. Also, if it is a Cisco CMTS some additional features may be available by using a Cisco modem/router.
The reason I think Motorola dominated the market was because they were cheaper. Cisco is always more expensive, but carrier class. Cisco also is a lot more flexible than any other combo.
