| [TWC] SATX, upset about metering?
Like most of you, I'm pretty upset that twc is going to do this metering BS. So I called up AT&T yesterday and you can now purchase just the uverse internet without having to bundle phone, cable ... Etc.
Their high end package is 18 down/1.5 up and is $65 a month. Needless to say I signed up yesterday but my appt isn't until 2 weeks from now. I'll let you all know how it goes... |

| Excellent! I don't think they were an option for me since I'm outside the 1604 loop... I hope more people do what u and I are doing so we can put an end to companies like twc who think they can do whatever to their loyal customer without repercussion |

| reply to thearod Well right now i have both RR and ATT Dsl and i believe uverse is available to me also, but ill stick around a little more hoping that they don't cap current customers cause i love my 15/2 that is more like 22/2.5 But if it does cap all customers ill be jumping ship and also with my 200 a month account that has phone, internet, and digital cable. |

| reply to thearod I'm very upset because I have no other option at my apartment complex. No Uverse, no Grande. AT&T's slower dsl is the only other option...
Does anyone know what's going to happen to those of us who signed a two-year contract last year to get RR Turbo? Right when it came out I signed up for it, but the only way to do it was by signing a two-year contract. I obviously want out if they are also going to cap me... |

Although I think you've made the right choice, I must point out that AT&T is also doing metered trials. They started in Reno and expanded to Beaumont, where TWC was also metering. So, don't be too surprised if AT&T follows TWC in short order. AT&T is, however, proposing much higher allowances for Max and Max 18 (150gb vs. 40gb).
Speaking of "trials", you might consider "trialing" AT&T's TV service on a one TV to get a free install, then cancelling that portion after you've redeemed your $200 rebate (usually shows up on the reward center in less than 30 days). Getting $200 back (minus one month of TV) beats paying $50 to install, may be worth the hassle. -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. Delivered.

| reply to thearod At least ATT and Comcasts caps are not as low as TWC and reasonable. At least they seem to have used common sense in there cap sizes.
Almost seems to me that the monkeys at TWC that came up with this brainstormer have no clue about the internet. |

1 edit | reply to thearod I don't mind the metering if they do it right. I don't like the idea myself, but if the cap and overage charges are reasonable then ill be fine with it. I'm sure the 40 GB is not set in stone it is probably a low ball figure to see how people would react. If you are really concerned about this hand write a letter or call in, but be civilized about doing this. Explain why its a bad idea back it up with evidence and not emotions. I know most of the tech support employees are going to side with you on this, I know I will. Management is logging this issue, and now is your chance to express your concerns. Acting childish about this issue will get you no where. The address to write letters to is
Time Warner Cable P.O. Box 460849 San Antonio, TX 78246
Anyway you got about 6 months before any changes will be done. I don't think its worth having to call cancel the account pay whats left of the balance, return all the equipment, then call and make a new account, pay a deposit the first months fees, wait for an install date, possible needing to take a day off or have atnt's B team do the install on the weekend because you know the good employees have the weekends off, and pray the job gets done right the first time. All for something that is unknown at this time what will happen with your service. As far as I told the changes can go either way. So make yourselves known and stop sitting behind your computer and complaining at this forum it wont lead to anything constructive. |

| reply to thearod You know...quite frankly I would have no problem paying for what I use, IF they actually gave me a decent rate...it's the $1/gig that the insult. This is irregardless of the fact that the overage charges are flat out cheaper than the initial 40gig cap (which is about $1.40/gig)...Bandwidth doesn't cost near that much... bandwidth sould be costing us no more than $0.10-0.15/gig...end of story. |

@rr.com | reply to thearod I am fed up with time warner anyway, this was just a excuse for me to switch and try out ATT. If I hate ATT I can always come back to the dark side. I hope this whole meter deal backfires on time warner and they learn a lesson. |

| sorry if I'm lost in all this but the 40gig cap is aimed at all the tiers or just the 15/2 tier? would their be different caps for the different tiers? and if the caps are put in place are they going to give a speed increase to all the tiers or keep them the same? |

Do yourself a favour and MOVE.
For TV Satellite has way more channels cheaper than TWC and has over 100HD channels -
DishNetwork »www.dishnetwork.com/
Direct TV »www.directv.com
I beleive DishNetwork and maybe also Direct TV also do a deal with yahoo / ATT DSL. (Not 100%)
Also for the ultimate cheap phone try www.vonage.com Will make any cable Co's VOIP phone prices look stupid.
Well i made my switchs just awaiting installation, and a thankfull farewell to that crap old dinasour we call TWC |
