1 edit | Cox DOCSIS 3 speed test in Lafayette I have Cox's DOCSIS 3 in Lafayette. From what I can tell they are only now testing powerboost with it however and I don't believe its actually being deployed to customers yet officially.
Only reason I would even mention it is that it seems to be public knowledge now:
»tinyurl.com/czeg8t
Currently the speeds I am seeing are higher then the 55 that powerboost is suppose to reach. I believe the 55 was based on 10% of the 50Mb/s service, so an extra 5. However the results have been more than that so far. I personally would not expect the results I have seen to be typical since its only suppose to be 55 and from what I have read about powerboost it is really only suppose to be available when extra capacity exists on the network. So its no guarantee or anything obviously.
This was done last night:

But wow whoever goes with Cox over the competition I'm sorry..but is a complete moron.
Edit: Isn't Comcast 50meg tier have 10mbps upload? Wonder why Cox isn't going with at least 10..my guess would be because Cox isn't capping it? -- »www.ps3grid.net |

 | reply to ztmike Its not available to me for one. And I have no interest in a government run service provider to be honest.
I have and am very happy with Cox. It's been way better than any other service I have had (Dish and DTV, BellSouth/AT&T).
They have been providing everything I need and more for a very long time compared to all the others currently available to me.
I have worked from home a LOT for many years using all while using Cox service, running my VPN router to work, Cisco IP phone, video conferencing and so on. I have rarely have been able to fully utilize all the bandwidth my service is suppose to offer to date.
The new service is just icing on the cake for me. The better upload speeds then the prior service helps on the rare occasion when I am trying to do too much at one time and has been extremely beneficial already. |

 | reply to ddevalcourt I'd be curious to see what speeds you get if you run the test on the Cox hosted New Orleans speedtest.net server. You can access it directly at »speedtest.no.cox.net.
While the connection is good, the Dallas Speakeasy server is off of the Cox network and you are crossing a NAP. |

Those speed tests are wonky, especially when Powerboost is being employed. With DU meter, I was able to see exactly when the Powerboost cut off when using Comcast, and I was able to see real results with actual file transfers.
I explained how I tested my FiOS upload in the link below, but you could use the same applications for downloads.
