Yeah sure we got bonuses. Not big bonuses like the CxOs but bonuses nonetheless.

They were spiraling down way before they started to get the attention they're getting now. Big layoffs in 2007 when I left and lots and lots of cost cutting. Remember that they were under investigation by the feds well before this mess happened. Because of that we had lots of record keeping to do to keep our noses clean - change management especially was enforced to a T, and no tapes could be destroyed/reused/recycled. Big pain in the neck. I'm sure the extra record keeping factored into their operating cost.

I think the best thing to happen to them would be for the Government to break them up into smaller chunks. Some of the companies like American General operated more or less independently anyway. They're way too big for their own good.
