I just replaced an asus eah 4850 with a 1gb 4870 by sapphire. The asus card took clock sppeds of 690/1175 with no stability issues at all. I used the Asus Smart doctor to adjust fan settings as needed automatically. Even with these high clock rates the fan rarely reached 70c. that was on the fast fan speed which was BARELY audible.

As others have said, aftermarket is probably a waste unless you go water to make it silent. Just turn up the fan a bit and have at it!
