The Speedstream is probably a NAT device with some firewall ability and causing issues with VPN. You'll need to access the admin interface of the Speedstream and disable all that so it only acts as a modem.

@comcast.net

I have a Netgear ProSafe VPN Firewall FVX538 and a Speedstream 5100 modem from AT&T. (In Chicago incase it matters)

I have the user name and password for the DSL modem and if i am directly connected to the modem i have access to the internet so i know its good.

I also have a linksys wireless router that i can add to the mix and i have access to the internet.

When i try to use the Netgear VPN.. i follow the step by step instructions but when i hit TEST i cant get to the internet. I poked around all the settings and nothing looks obvious.. mostly because im a network idiot.

I am able to get the Netgear VPN to work with Comcast Cable internet (motorola modem). If someone knows what mistake im making or settings i missed with DSL please help. Thanks..

This is a link to netgears "test drive" where you can look at the VPN settings. »tools.netgear.com/landing/gui/se···etup.htm

This is the installation step by step guide im following »www.guijaboard.com/graphic_image···X538.pdf
