Re: Too Soon to Tell said by Dolgan:the Hawaiian Tel network is FUBAR--copper plant does not fair well on an island surrounded by salt water Very true. Lived in Beach Flats, Santa Cruz, Santa Cruz County, California for 6 months, a place surrounded on 3 sides by water and less than 100 feet from ocean. Phone line went dead twice, both times due to corrosion in the plant. Pac Bell (renamed many times) tech told me once that this is normal for that neighborhood, and just to 611 it whenever it happened, and it would continue to happen about the same frequency. He said the salt water just eats the copper away. | | patcat88 join:2002-04-05 Jamaica, NY kudos:1 | said by Ulmo:said by Dolgan:the Hawaiian Tel network is FUBAR--copper plant does not fair well on an island surrounded by salt water Very true.
