| reply to The Dv8or said by The Dv8or :The bullpen gate and bridge is one of my favorite areas of the stadium. Great place to stand and watch for awhile right after you grab some Blue Smoke ribs. I think it's the best entrance--much more so than the bullshit rotunda. This Jackie Robinson dedication on that scale just has no place in this stadium. If they want to do minor dedications to old NL baseball like the Ebbets Club, Im cool with that, but for the premier feature to be dedicated to a guy who retired even before the Mets were in existence to me is just ridiculous. I would have loved to see it be dedicated to Met history, with all kinds of computer kiosks where you can replay historic plays and stuff like that. The Mets would not exist if the Dodgers didn't abandon Brooklyn. Fred Wilpon was a Dodger fan. I am much more comfortable with a section dedicated to Jackie Robinson than 20 million a year of our tax dollars allowing the name of CitiField. The "Citi Never Sleeps"? I can't help but think they were asleep at the wheel when the ruined one of the premier banks on the planet. Maybe it should be the Vikram Pandit Rotunda. The Louis Armstrong stadium at the US Open is named after a person who was not born in NY and didn't play tennis. He was an historical figure who lived near the place the Stadium was built in the latter part of his life. I'll take history over high priced ribs. The food at the restaurants that have locations in Manhattan charge more at Citifield which is located near a toxic dump than they do in Manhattan. The fans are drinking Kool-Aid. The Mets talk about players with quality of character and bring in a pieces of garbage like Gary Sheffield who admitted to making errors, plays the race card and pleads ignorance to applying a cream that contained steroids. Maybe the rotunda should be named after his criminal uncle Dwight Gooden or Darryl Strawberry or former coke head Keith Hernandez. Jackie Robinson was a rare and great person. It's too bad the Met's sold out and didn't name the stadium after him but at least had the good sense to honor Jackie Robinson. -- I'd rather be a free man in my grave than living as a puppet or a slave. He has twice as many RBI's than any other Met and leads the team in Hr's and total bases so I would cut him some slack on one at bat.
