3 edits | New Betamax Clone Telbo.com Unlimited Calls for $9.95/year Betamax/Dellmont just launched a new brand called Telbo.com. They're offering an amazing $1/month or $9.95/year for unlimited (actually 10,000 mins/month) to USA and Canada. They're also offering unlimited calls to 40 countries for $5.95/month or $59.50/year. Forget Skype, Magicjack, or ooma, if this service really works as advertised. There's no huge upfront cost like ooma and you can try it for only $1/month. Anyone tried them out yet? |

Can you set the outgoing CID number with the betamax products? All the silly promo-crap from their other companies always seemed like a PITA to me so I never bothered. |

vilord join:2006-09-05 Watertown, MA | reply to LaDude626 where can I find the SIP addresses? Do I need to download the client and sniff the packets?
Also, the configuration options all seem to be client-side, the web interface is, well, sparse. |

Outbound CID number works with all betamax products. You just have to download the softphone and verify your phone number. They'll send you verification code through SMS if you add a mobile number or if it's a landline number, they'll call you and you'll have to punch in the verification code displayed on the softphone. They don't advertise their sip address anywhere but it's sip.telbo.com . I'm currently using smartvoip.com but thinking about switching to telbo once my freedays are up. |

If you sign up for a telbo account, then use a sip softphone client like X-Lite, you can actually register with a telbo username to a Betamax sip address like sip.voipbuster.com. |

| Although Betamax uses every imaginable name under the sun, this "Dellmont Sarl" company does NOT seem to be related to Betamax.
DO please note however, these items on their webpages:
"A connection of 3,9 dollarcent applies to NON-Free calls to mobile and landline phones." [What does that mean? Does it mean $ 3.09 ??]
"**Telbo reserves the right after a certain amount of calls to start charging the default rate."
"...calls are rounded up to next minute..."
So please do let us know how it works for you. |

vilord join:2006-09-05 Watertown, MA | On second thought, for now I'm going to wait... I'm only spending about $1.50/month on outgoing anyways through voip.ms and f/9... I just don't use it that much, hence dropping vonage
LaDude, please try it out for the rest of us and if it works out for you, i think there is an entry on the voip-info wiki for all the betamax-like companies, maybe you can add this one...
PXE, maybe Dellmont Sarl is a reseller of betamax? hmm... |

vilord join:2006-09-05 Watertown, MA 1 edit | from the FAQ: quote: Calls will be charged at the applicable tariff for the destination you are calling. Rates are in ¢ per minute and calls are rounded up to next minute. Apart from that there are no other charges; no subscription, registration, or administration fees! If you make a phone-to-phone call you will be charged a 3.9¢ starting fee.
A phone to phone call is described as follows:
quote: Just enter your phone number and the destination number and press "Call!". Your phone will start ringing, pick it up and wait for the other side to pick up as well. Costs for calling your phone number and the destination number are settled via your Telbo account.
You will be charged the regular Telbo rates as advertised on our website + a small connection fee. rates as advertised on our website.
I imagine that the same 3.9 cent connection fee applies to *any* non-free calls, based on that note you mentioned on the rate-sheet. |

1 edit | reply to LaDude626 What the hell...I bought 1 month subscription for $1.00 + $0.50 handling free. Unfortunately, the service seems to work through their softphone only. I success registered to their sip server using X-Lite but I cannot make a call. $9.95/year isn't bad but without sip service, it's almost useless! |

| Are you following their European style rules:
"Please note that when you call a number (even if it's local) you should always dial 00 + countrycode + areacode + subscriber number"
Hence: 001 comes before US/Canadian area code?
I ran into this recently with Nymgo. |

I ran into this recently with Nymgo. I gave that a try, it still doesn't work. I get an "internal server error" message either way. |
